Building confidence at the Building Circles party

Recently, a group from Third Space and Level Up headed off for the Building Circles party which was held at Music Works in Gloucester.

Building Circles is an organisation which supports adults with learning disabilities in Gloucestershire to form and maintain meaningful friendships. They host the Social Buddies and Gig Buddies programmes which connect adults with learning disabilities to volunteers, then go out into the community to do things they enjoy together.

Our Level Up group is a weekly, participant-led programme for disabled and neurodivergent adults who have “aged out” of 3rd Space, our youth hub. They are supported to organise their own events and trips and decided to go along to the Music Works for the party along with two of our staff, Kat and Tosca.

The party showcased a range of DJ sets from neurodiverse and disabled performers, creating a friendly and inclusive atmosphere. Everyone enjoyed a fantastic evening of music, dancing, and socialising, while celebrating the talents of the DJs.

One of our own participants from Third Space was invited up to speak during one of the talks, alongside his buddy who has attended concerts and other events with him. The support has helped him build confidence and enjoy experiences he may otherwise have missed. It was a brilliant night out and a great opportunity to connect with others in the community.
