A day out at the seaside – didn’t we have a lovely time…

Not too far from home, Burnham-on-Sea ticked all the boxes for a group of young people from Stroud and Cotswolds.

Fish n’ chips for 23, playing rounders on the beach, building giant sandcastles, walking to the lighthouse, winning in the arcades.

A few hours out of the routine to meet new and existing friends, do some sketching, play, chill and have fun.

We work with young people to prepare them for a journey they may find difficult, for whatever reason, so everyone can join in if they want to.

‘’I didn’t want to come, and a friend persuaded me. I had such a nice time and now I think I can do more things. There were no expectations of me and that was good. Usually I’m just in my bedroom.’’

‘’The giant spades and big bucket was a laugh to make sandcastles and I can’t wait to do it again.’’

‘’Some people collected tiny shells and put them in match boxes. It felt like a whole weekend and I was surprised by how we made friends so quickly.’’

‘’Being on the beach with everyone was so refreshing for my head’’
