Digital Champions Network

The CS Digital Inclusion Programme, helps people with barriers to Digital skills to empower them to become more connected, confident and less isolated by providing direct person-centred intervention and training skills, partly via peer Digital Champions and working 1-2-1 with people in a variety of spaces, including in Digital Hubs, mobile pop-ups and community spaces. 

We are part of the countywide DIGI Partnership, with other local, grassroots community organisations. One of our partners, FVAF (Forest Voluntary Action Forum), leads the Digi-Hubs project and we are a partner for north Stroud District and part of the countywide steering group. 

The Digital Champion Network project is a new partnership project being led by CS Digital Inclusion team on behalf of the DIGI Partnership in partnership with Gloucestershire NHS and funded by NHS England. 

Digital Champions Network Co-ordinator Vacancy

We have a vacancy for a Digital Champions Network Co-ordinator to work on this project and other Digital Inclusion work at Creative Sustainability.

Key Responsibilities 

Network development and support:  

  • Create a peer support network of Digital Champions
  • Work with other Network Co-ordinator post-holder(s) to create monthly district meetings online and in person and countywide meetings twice a year
  • Work from partner organisation spaces to support Digital Champions
  • Support partners to streamline Digital Champion support processes (eg DBS checks, training and support needs)
  • Visit Community Hubs to offer support in creating Digital Hubs collaboratively.

Communications 

  • Create website/page for training and information to support Digital Champions
  • Create a mailing list, compile Digital Champion Data (in line with GDPR)
  • Create, promote and send newsletters to Digital Champions and Stakeholders
  • Co-create presentations, workshops and events with Digital Champions, partners and stakeholders    

Digital Champion training and development

  • Train Digital Champions to assess service user digital skills, individual need, motivation and barriers.
  • Recruit and train Digital Champions to deliver digital skills
  • Organise specific training sessions and present on digital topics
  • Collect and report data to Digital Inclusion Manager

User service delivery

  • Work from Digi Hubs to offer support to participants and help identify potential Digital Champions.
  • Use our excellent Digital Inclusion Workbooks, Glossary and Assessments to anchor learning and evidence reporting
  • Produce individualised prompts or reminders for service users to support with their learning eg photos of their own smart phone with clear instructions.

Personal Criteria

It is essential that you have:

  • Exceptional people skills with proven ability to engage with a warm and inclusive attitude to people of all ages and backgrounds at many different levels
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, patient and supportive
  • Good hands-on technical skills in using relevant technical tools, e.g. Zoom, Facetime etc for delivering training and social activities.
  • Great IT skills including email, presentation software and social media platforms
  • A good understanding of the importance of and ability to work within equal opportunities principles and policies.
  • Willingness to learn new skills and participate in all training opportunities offered
  • Ability to learn quickly and take on tasks outside your skill set
  • Highly organised, focussed, and productive, and able to juggle many activities at the same time
  • Environmentally aware and with an understanding of sustainability
  • Ability to travel county-wide and locally according to needs of the role

Conditions of Employment 

  • Starting salary range: £25,975 – £28,309. Part Time, Pro Rata. Salary subject to experience. 
  • Hours of Work: 22.5 hours a week with flexibility required  
  • Contract Duration: 1 year contract with continuation subject to funding 
  • Place of Work: Fromehall Mill GL5 3EH, peripatetic 
  • Reporting to: Helen Elliott-Boult, Digital Inclusion Programme Manager and Anna Bonallack, CEO, Creative Sustainability CIC.
