We met a few young people at Sandy Hill, North Cotswold for our monthly get together.
Sandy Hill – on the National Trust’s Sherborne and Lodge Park Estate in Gloucestershire is in the process of Organic conversion process and carrying out several nature restoration projects across the farm.
Nature is at the heart of everything they do from the soil upwards and so they have a lot of wildlife, insects, wildflowers, trees, mammals and birds that also live and spend time at the farm.
Our time together this time, was to attend to the last remaining apples that would become hand pressed cider. There were 2 wheelbarrows full, picked after a short amount of time, of varying sizes, colours and varieties. The taste test also highlighted both sweet and in some cases very sour!!
We spent time preparing the sweeter apples to bake in the fire. Sitting around the fire eating the apples we baked was the perfect end to what felt like a very Autumnal session.
