Once the bus timetable had been checked and double checked and everyone was ready, we walked from 3rd Space as a group to the bus stop which would take us to Nailsworth.
When we arrived, we decided to have our lunch in the square behind the bus station, before walking up to the Donkey sanctuary along New Market Road.
The Sanctuary is a small, community run rescue that cares for rescued Donkeys. Some have travelled as far afield as Ireland and have been given a safe second chance through the generosity of the volunteers and the people who support through donations.
When we arrived, the Donkeys were curious to see us. Some spent time being brushed while others escaped the sun in their sheltered space. They are such gentle creatures, it’s hard to imagine their life before arriving here.
We eventually made our way back to Nailsworth centre, where we were welcomed by the Canteen Café even though they had closed and were clearing up. They could see we had been looking forward to a cold drink and a cake, which we enjoyed sitting in their outside space.
Once we had finished, we checked the timetable again before heading back to Stroud on the next bus.
We arrived back at 3rd Space in time to see the others who were leaving for 5pm and for some, they stayed and took advantage of the later opening time of 7pm that happens every week on a Tuesday.
