Daisy Burt BA Hons

Daisy is a musician and creative facilitator and runs 3rd Space at CS for teens and young adults. Her USP is the use of participatory, live music and other creative mediums as a way to connect and create magic with others.

Her greatest experiences have been found working alongside people. For over ten years, she has taken various roles with complex needs, in support work, tutoring and she uses her music and theatrical training in most avenues of her life. She studied music (ethnomusicology) at School of Oriental and African Studies, which brought the opportunity to study in West Africa on-and-off for several years. All of this helped her to begin to learn how to ‘unlearn’. Alongside studying a specific musical tradition, she also found a love of languages and studied the language Bamana. This isn’t particularly useful in this part of the world, but it worked wonders in Mali.

In the summer of 2021, Daisy initiated the local sea shanty sessions open to anyone and everyone, ‘Shanty Bants’. Their wish is to promote singing and music-making in a free-style and unpressured environment where folk traditions are collaboratively taught.

When Daisy is not doing any of the above, she very much enjoys spending time with friends, going to gigs, making fires and travelling about in Van Helen – her van. She also very much likes to eat and sleep.
